Worshipful Brother Jonathan Cresswell was introduced to Freemasonry through family and friends. His father-in-law had been a Freemason for many years, and Jonathan had attended a number of events where non-Masons were invited to learn more about freemasonry and its values. Having also seen the positive impact that Freemasonry had on several long-standing friends, he accepted an invitation to attend an open evening at Vivary Lodge, and shortly afterwards he began his own Masonic journey.
Since his initiation, Jonathan has progressed through the various offices of the Lodge, gaining experience and an appreciation of its traditions and ceremonies. Each role has presented new opportunities to learn, contribute and support the Lodge.
One aspect he has particularly valued as personal development is the study and delivery of Masonic ritual, which is traditionally performed entirely from memory. Through this process, he has developed greater confidence, strengthened his presentation and public speaking skills, and improved his ability to learn, retain and recite ritual.
Having been elected and invested as Worshipful Master of Vivary Lodge, Jonathan is honoured, and humbled, to serve the Lodge during the coming year and looks forward to working with his Officers and Brethren to uphold our traditions, perform our ceremonies to a high standard, welcome our visitors, and encourage the friendship, support and enjoyment that are central to Freemasonry.
